Best one of the 3 I drew tonight. Messed up the nose on 1st (I mean it's one line!) and had to give him stubble, a tache and goatee to fix it. It wasn't appalling tbh just not quite how I wanted it. Did an OK one of an elderly lady then it turned out pale pink actually made it look like Granny had major time sunburn. Gonna have to get some skin tone markers I think. I was kindly lent some manga books to read to study the images. Also downloaded some more kindle books on manga as well as some on general cartooning (must not call manga a cartoon) to try some different styles to see what I like though I do like the manga style. Could see this working for the books with practice though. Hopefully with plenty of practice over winter I can release my 2nd one:Timmy Timid, in early spring. Will be a year in April since The Sky Painter was released. Link to Amazon page is in the bio. Timmy Timid will also be aimed at KS1 age kids. The Sky Painter was about feeling sad and understanding those feelings, Timmy Timid is also about big feelings for small people but is also about the nature of bravery. I've started to go out wandering around where I live with my camera in the odd morning where I have just enough time to get bored but not truly productive. And it's great. There's some real loveliness to be had right next to home. On this walk I came across a kitty who clearly thought I was beneath them and this little squirelly chap who was not keen on me knowing where he was keeping his stash. Shot with the Sony Alpha 7ii and Tamron 150-600mm lens hand held on shutter priority. The Web ones were using the Sigma 105mm macro. Looking to try and build a collection of nice arty looking prints I can make out of some of my photos for a future project, possibly like the silhouette ones here or the Web photos. Love the fact you can see the local shops so clearly in the dew here. Have been taking photos of vehickly things this week with the new Tamron 150-600mm lens. As you can see it's a beast. It's about 2.5kg so at full tilt I can *just* do a handheld shot without having to pan or do any fast focus adjustments. But the detail it picks up is stunning, it's a monster, love it. Will be taking a 'pod of some sort out on all trips now I suspect. The last few are a slightly smaller vehicle I snapped and that DID take some fast focus adjustment. Manual is way quicker on this thing as its a long way from one end to the other. And another attempt. Gonna give up for the night and chill with a film but have really enjoyed this foray into something different and think if I practice to get better at it I could definitely make use of it. Have a lot on with the photography at the moment before a big project that's coming up in Feb (more on that later) so putting off releasing 2nd story til next spring at the moment. Have decided taking up cartooning would be a nice way to learn to illustrate the kids books I write but also a nice way to relax when I'm not writing or taking photos so hit my Amazon account for some decent paper,promarkers and a book on drawing manga. This is my 1st effort. I think the face could be a little more square. I drew a girl too but eyes were too far apart. My husband remarked you could drive an Uber between them. Cheeky git. Still it's fun and a nice way to unwind. It will round out my writing nicely if I can get any good at it and learn any other styles. And if not its just a nice hobby.
